Mindfulness: A Guide for Men to Achieve Inner Peace and Joy
Mindfulness
Our real home is not in the past. Our real home is not in the future. Our real home is in the here and now. Life is only available in the here and now, and it is our true at home. Mindfulness brings us home.
Mindfulness is the energy that helps us to recognize the circumstances of happiness that are already present in our lives. You don’t have to wait ten years to experience this happiness. It is present at any time of your daily life.
There are people among us who still live, but don’t know. But if you inhale and are aware of your inhalation, you touch the miracle of life. That is why Mindfulness is a source of happiness and joy.
1st way consciously breathing
The first exercise is very simple, but the power, the result, can be very large. The exercise simply consists of identifying the inhalation as inhalation and exhalation as an exhalation. If you inhale, you know this is your inhalation. When you exhale, you are aware that this is your exhalation.
Just recognize: this is an inhalation, this is an exhalation. Very simple, very easy. To recognize your inhalation as inhalation, you must return your mind to yourself. What recognizing your inhalation is is your mind, and the object of your mind – the object of your attention – is the inhalation. Mindfulness is always aware of something. If you drink your tea with attention, it is called Mindfulness of drinking. If you walk attentively, it is called mindfulness of walking. And if you breathe carefully, it is carefully breathing.
The object of your mindfulness is therefore your breathing, and you simply focus your attention on it. While I inhale, this is my inhalation. Exhaling, this is my exhalation. If you do that, the mental discourse will stop. You don’t think anymore. You don’t have to make any effort to stop your thinking; You bring your attention to your inhalation and the mental discourse will just stop. That is the miracle of practice. You no longer think about the past. You don’t think about the future. You don’t think about your projects, because you focus your attention, your mindfulness, on your breathing.
It gets even better. You can enjoy your inhalation. The practice can be pleasant and joyful. Someone who is dead can no longer breathe in. But you live. You breathe in and while you inhale, you know you are alive. The inhalation can be a celebration of the fact that you live, so it can be very joyful. If you are happy and happy, you don’t have the feeling that you have to make any effort. I live; I breathe in. That I am still living is a miracle. The greatest of all miracles is that you live, and when you inhale, you touch that miracle. That is why your breathing can be a celebration of life.
An inhalation can take three, four, five seconds, it depends on it. That is time to live, time to enjoy your breath. You do not have to interfere with your breathing. If your inhalation is short, let it be short. If your exhalation is long, let him be long. Try not to force it. The exercise consists of simply recognizing the inhalation and exhalation. That’s good enough. It will have a powerful effect.
2nd way concentration
The second exercise is that, while inhaling, you follow your inhalation from the beginning to the end. If your inhalation takes three or four seconds, your mindfulness will also take three or four seconds. While I breathe, I completely follow my inhalation. While I exhale, I completely follow my exhalation. From the start of my exhalation to the end of my exhalation, my mind is always there. That is why Mindfulness is continuously interrupted and the quality of your concentration is improved.
So the second exercise is to fully follow your inhalation and your exhalation. Whether they are short or long, it doesn’t matter. What is important is that you follow your inhalation from the beginning to the end. Your consciousness is retained. There is no interruption. Imagine you inhale and then think, “Oh, I forgot to turn off the light in my room.” There is a break. Just stay with your inhalation all the time. Then you cultivate your attention and your concentration. You become your inhalation. You become your exhalation. If you continue like this, your breathing will automatically become deeper and slower, harmonious and more peaceful. You don’t have to make any effort for it; It happens automatically.
